Ever blooming purple, tubular flowers, growing in whorls on tall spikes. Leaves are dull green, long and heavily lobed (resembles Japanese maples. Nice as a herb garden hedge, but the branches become somewhat bare late in the season. As flowers continue the leaves turn reddish and fall off in late September. Old Chinese medicinal plant.
Care and Maintenance:
Delightfully hardy and easy to raise. Prefers average, well drained soils in open, sunny locations. Drought resistant, but somewhat frost tender.
