Also known as Bishops' Hat, this compact mound of bronzy leaves bears dainty yellow flowers (sulphureum)in early spring. As summer advances the leaves turn green, then russet again in fall. Useful as low growing perennial for shady locations, woodland areas or in foreground of borders and rockeries. Spreads by underground rhizomes and competes well under trees. Rubrum bears sprays of carmine red, with white centre striped blooms. Tough, resistant clump forming plant.
Care and Maintenance:
Frost hardy. Tolerant of dry conditons, especially in the shade. Requires full or dappled shade. Keep well watered in hot summers.
